Day 55: Been doing a lot of reflecting on my thesis today and where I want it to go. This popped into my head today and I’d like to incorporate it somehow into the “manifesto” that I’m working towards. What I mean by this that because on places like tumblr, or the internet in general, people tend be be just looking at things at face value just mindlessly viewing them. Especially on tumblr where I feel that users just reblog and “love” everything. There are a lot of inspiration blogs out here, but all it is just a collection of images from someone else. I would like to see someone explain why they like something (beyond “Oh, because it’s pretty) or create original content. I’m pretty selective about who I follow and I try to post original content with some form of explanation and reasoning. This probably doesn’t matter because I’m sure that most of tumblr is made up of 14 year olds anyways. I guess I’m sounding a little elitist here, but what do you really get from infinitely scrolling through hundreds of images a day? I personally don’t find much value in that BUT I guess that is the purpose of tumblr. Thoughts?

  1. hazel answered: Agreed. That’s why I regularly clean out my following list. I have an original content blog & a reblog blog on the rare days I want to do so.
